Ethical Custom Clothing
Why choose sustainable promotional clothing?
Branded clothing is often produced for sale as merchandise to promote brands, artists, musicians and charity campaigns. However with the spotlight currently turned on to fast fashion and it’s consequences for the environment and people involved in its production, choosing sustainably produced promotional clothing is more important than ever.
Recent press such as the BBC’s Stacey Dooley Investigates has gone some way to informing the public about the environmental and ethical impact of current clothing consumption. The Guardian’s recent expose of the actual manufacturing conditions of T-shirts produced by the Spice Girls in aid of Comic Relief really highlighted the importance of a transparent ethical supply chain. Female factory workers in Bangladesh were paid an equivalent rate to 35 pence an hour, far below the recognised living wage, to produce the Spice Girls garments which were being sold to raise money for Comic Relief’s ‘gender justice’ campaign.
The shocking reality of Fast Fashion is now being addressed by the UK government’s Environmental Audit Committee.
Their recently published report on fashion’s environmental price tag describes how we are unwittingly wearing the fresh water supply of central Asia and destroying fragile ecosystems. Consumers can play their part by avoiding products with premade rips and tears and seeking sustainable or organic cotton wherever possible.
So which brand is Okay?
If you are looking for truly sustainable certified clothing for your brand then look no further than Neutral. Founded in 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Neutral was born out of more than 20 years experience in the textile industry and a desire to create a product range that is not detrimental to natural and human resources. The result is the Neutral range of clothing for printing and accessories for branding which is made entirely in India.
Navillus have been providing Neutral clothing to our more discerning customers since 2015. Now the 2019 range has grown with 18 new products and 3 new colours to meet demand.
Neutral’s ethos is based on its trademark of Certified Responsibility™
Their products and production standards are audited and independently certified by GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard whose Control Union inspect 100% organic cotton. Fairtrade ensure the cotton is produced within international Fairtrade standards. EU Eco label identifies products which are considered ‘Greener’ because of their low impact on air, water, soil, quality, natural resource consumption, global warming and biodiversity. SA8000 certifies Social Accountability in accordance with human rights. The Oeko-Tex 100 standard evaluates and screens for any harmful substances within processed textiles.
Neutral’s own responsibility is using fully renewable energy in production and re-supplying any surplus energy back to local networks.
Who is it for?
Everyone needs clothing. Neutral’s ideology is why not have that t-shirt that you need anyway with all the best in class certification? Why not have your company’s clothing made in a way that you know is not harming the environment or the people who are making it?
It might cost a bit more than the basic promotional clothing brands but the high quality and peace of mind that your clothing is Okay is worth it.
Navillus are distributors for the Neutral range in the UK offering a full range of custom branding methods. For more information on truly ethical certified clothing for your brand, get in touch and we will be happy to help you make the right choice.
